TEMPE, Ariz. – The day kicked off with the top-4 seeds going head-to-head in the winner’s bracket. No. 2 UCLA took down No. 3 STANFORD, to start the morning, finishing in a quick 3-0 match with each pair securing their wins in just two sets. Next on the court was No. 1 USC and No. 4 CALIFORNIA where the Trojans walked away victorious. The Golden Bears were able to get a single win on court five to spoil the Trojan sweep.
Fifth-seeded WASHINGTON eliminated eighth-seeded UTAH in a sweeping fashion followed by a rivalry matchup that saw No. 6 seed ARIZONA STATE take down No. 7 seed ARIZONA to stay alive in the contender’s bracket. Despite their morning win, the Huskies were dropped out of the tournament by the STANFORD Cardinal, while ARIZONA STATE upset the Golden Bears in an close 3-2 victory to cap off day two of the Championships.
Conference foes, and the tournament’s top-2 seeds, No. 1 USC and No. 2 UCLA will go head-to-head in Friday’s first semifinal match, kicking off at 9:00 a.m. PT. The winner of that match will advance onto the Championship while the loser will drop into the contender's semifinal. The second participant of the contender’s semifinal match will be decided at 10:45 a.m. in a match featuring STANFORD and ARIZONA STATE.
The championship match will be played at 4 p.m tomorrow in two flights,starting withpairs three and five, followed by pairs one, two, and four.
