Ingredients for Homemade Lasagna Sheets

  • All Purpose Flour / Maida - 1 cup
  • Wheat Flour / Atta - ½ cup
  • Water a little less than ¾ cup

Every recipe for homemade pasta calls for eggs, since i decided to make a vegetarian lasagna, i thought of making a vegan pasta sheet as well. So i stumbled upon this recipe and adapted it slightly as per my taste and preference and the pasta sheet turned out to be a success. I made most of it into lasagna sheet and made a small batch of linguine, cooked it for few mins and tossed that fresh pasta in a homemade tomato sauce. My 2 year daughter just loved it.

First my plan was to make a veg lasagna, later i got few more sheets leftover. So i decided to make a spinach and mushroom lasagna..Luckily i had every ingredients on hand and it turned out just great..You have to cook the pasta sheets in boiling salted water for 2 to 3 mins before making lasagna..Hope you will give this recipe a try and let me know how it turns out for you..

How to Make Homemade Lasagna Sheets

  1. Take a bowl, add in wheat flour and maida in a bowl. Mix well using a fork.
  2. Add in water slowly and use the fork to mix it to a dough. Knead it for few mins to make it smooth.
  3. Now let it rest for 10 mins.
  4. Now divide it into two portion. Roll each one into a pretty thin square. Cut it in half and now roll each half into long thin sheets.
  5. Use the pan which you are making lasagna as guideline and cut it accordingly.
  6. Now cut into shapes like lasagna or thin strips for linguine..Dust generously with flour between them and set aside till use.

How to cook:

  1. Bring lots of water to boil, add salt to it.
  2. Drop pasta in and cook for 2 to 4 mins depending on the thickness of pasta.
  3. Drain and toss into your favorite sauce.
  4. Serve hot.

can v add egg with it?

Proper lasagne pasta HAS to have egg in it. This is a vegan version, hence the lack of egg. Of course it will never taste as good as the real thing... or have the same texture.. but if one is a vegan there is no other option.
