Resident Evil 4 Remake lets us revisit one of the most memorable chapters in Capcom’s long-running franchise, giving us a hefty dose of survival horror as March comes to a close. If you’re picking the game up on PC, there’s a good chance you will sooner or later want to try out some of the best RE4 Remake mods.
Unsurprisingly, the first couple of Resident Evil 4 Remake mods started popping up shortly after its demo went live, altering both how the game plays and its visuals in more or less unusual ways.
Although the title doesn’t support Steam Workshop support or mod tools, candidates for the best Resident Evil 4 Remake mods have only increased in number, thanks to the game’s dedicated community.
The majority of mods on this list are currently only compatible with the demo, given how it goes live prior to the full game’s launch, but should still give you a bit of a different experience while you’re honing your Ganado slaying skills.

Church Bell No More (Infinite Timer Mod)
The Church Bell No More mod removes the time limit from the demo, allowing you to see how long you can last against an unrelenting wave of Ganados. It also comes with options to disable chainsaw-wielding enemies from spawning alongside enabling or disabling certain events that can trigger at various points during Leon’s battle for survival, and more.
No Yellow Paint
The No Yellow Paint mod removes the yellow markers from destructible objects that drop loot for Leon, in an attempt to add more realism but also increase challenge and immersion.
Leatherface Skin
RE4 Remake’s chainsaw-wielding enemies are some of the most terrifying threats Leon has to face. This mod adds a dash of extra terror, making them resemble iconic horror villain Leatherface.
Shirtless Leon (Chainsaw Demo)
Nobody could predict what Leon would go up against when traveling to a remote Spanish village to save the president’s daughter. Thankfully, we can now watch Leon fight off monstrosities while shirtless thanks to this mod. That’s one step closer to becoming a true action hero, I guess.
Health Bars
Fighting several enemies at once can make it tricky to keep track of which ones you’ve already wounded. Resident Evil 4 Remake’s Health Bars mod comes to your aid by providing real-time information about how close your foes are to death.
Banana Gun and Spoon Knife Mod
The one thing a monstrous maniac capable of controlling deadly bioweapons doesn’t expect is having to fight against a trained agent wielding the just-as-lethal banana and spoon combo. They might be cosmetic replacements for Leon’s handgun and survival knife, but this RE4 Remake mod lets you not only kill but also decisively humiliate your opponents.
Realism Mode Mod
The Realism Mode mod greatly increases RE4 Remake’s difficulty by giving enemies the ability to kill Leon in one hit.
World S Leon Skin
Sometimes, you just need a bit more color in your survival horror adventure. This mod adds more blue and red via a snazzy new jacket that Leon can wear.
Chainsaw Knife
The impression you make when your enemy first sees you is a vital part of any battle, and having your knife look like the very chainsaw your terrifying enemy wields basically means you’re already halfway to victory. Thankfully, there’s a mod that does just that.
Deadly Headshots
RE4 Remake’s Deadly Headshots mod enables you to one-shot zombies by landing headshots. In the vanilla game, hitting enemies in the head often leads to Las Plagas emerging, so this simple change makes for quite a different experience.
